Ann Cantrell is both an entrepreneur and an academic, owning an urban general store in Brooklyn, NY and also teaching full time as associate professor in the Fashion Business Management Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her passion and interest in sustainability started at an early age when her parents moved “off the grid before there was a grid” and shunned city life for farmland. She has her MBA with a concentration in Sustainability from Green Mountain College. Ann is an active member of the President’s Council on Sustainability at FIT, and a faculty advisor for the Ethics & Sustainability Minor. She recently rewrote the 3rd edition of Fashion Entrepreneurship. Ann is also an advisor for the Merchandising Society’s Style Shop, guiding the team to re-build their online ecomm platform this semester. Previously, Ann worked in Product Development in the fashion industry for several years at Ralph Lauren, Talbots and Coach, and previous to that in Planning at Brooks Brothers.
